About LEAF

LEAF (Literacy Empowers All Families) began as a Sarasota County-wide collaborative effort in 2008 and was funded by a grant from the Community Foundation of Sarasota County through May 2013. This multifaceted literacy initiative was administered in part by The Early Learning Coalition of Sarasota County (ELC) whose mission includes the support of early literacy intervention and development for children ages five and under. Other proud LEAF partners included the School Board of Sarasota County, Children First, the Sarasota County Library System, WEDU and PBS.

Today, the ELC continues to work to provide early literacy intervention to Sarasota County children and continues to promote the Talk Listen and Read message to parents to help ensure all our community’s children are ready for learning, ready for life!
